Heavenly Father,

My thoughts.. well, I don’t know what my thoughts are. They are racing around my mind creating chaos.

The positive ones come slowly. They stop, but as soon as I try to pick it up and absorb it into my current view of reality, they quickly turn into a million grains of sand. I hear faint echoes of laughter as they slip easily through my fingers.

The negative thoughts attack, fast and furious. My attempts to avoid them only result in failure. They screech to a halt and refuse to budge, pooling at my feet forming a pit of quicksand. The fear of drowning freezes my defenses.

I look around for help. I look up and pray. My brain knows peace - and even joy - come only from you. But the storm swirling in my mind makes it hard to see you. My heart desires your strength and to surrender with trust in your plan. But my emotions have taken control. Your love feels just out of reach.

I will forever be obedient. I know you are there. I know you love me. I know you will use the storms in my life for good, but please rebuke the storm inside of me. Give me the resolve to stand firm with you and remember these battles are yours - and you have already been victorious!

Amen
